Birmingham,AL Trip March 2009

I had a great time in Birmingham,AL photographing a wedding during the last weekend in March. I had a few hours to spend driving and walking around, and thanks to Genevieve and Greg(former bride and groom) I got some night time city shots as well. Greg, that bar was just plain odd.

I stayed at the Hotel Highland in downtown Birmingham where I managed to break the shower within 5 minutes of me being there, not my fault, the handle broke! Otherwise a great hotel to stay at right in Five Points, biscuits and gravy for breakfast though get there early!

Here's a few images from that weekend, no wedding images just yet though. Elaine and Robby's wedding was amazing, excellent group of people, and a damn good band!

On the drive back to NOLA I detoured off the interstate to visit Rickwood Field, where Babe Ruth,Ty Cobb, Willie Mays and even Wiljax once played. Also along the way back down I found a Confederate Cemetery in Quitman,MS as well as a diesel train engine that may have been abused in Monster Truck rallies.

Jeanne and Jason 10.24.08

Wonderful wedding, hey when Goldfrapp is played during the reception you know you are in for a good time!

Jeanne and Jason's wedding ceremony took place at Lady of Guadalupe Church and the reception was at the Maison Dupuy Hotel. Both bride and groom prepped at the hotel as well. Great couple and family to work with!

I photographed Jeanne's portraits back in August of 2008.

Greenwood,Mississippi, The Delta

Back in October my wife and I spent a few days in Greenwood,MS staying at the Alluvian Hotel and exploring The Delta. I was not expecting such open country just outside of town, really we went from oak tree lined houses to cotton fields! I could have photographed all day and night up there. Stopped at 2 out of 3 Robert Johnson's graves. Finished up one night at a fabulous restaurant, Lusco's, a few Manning photos and autographs dot the walls inside. Kind of like being in New Orleans! And for New Orleans folks, it's a short drive or train ride up there.

If you want to see more Delta images other than my small slideshow, I'd suggest checking out www.wiljax.com . Will's the best Mississippi(noticed I wrote MS and not LA, he'd have to get in line here!) photographer out there.

More of Kate and Joe's Wedding

Kate and Joe 10.18.2008

This was a great wedding, great probably does not describe it but I'm no writer, I just hit the "click" button.

Kate and Joe were married in Houma,LA. The ceremony took place at St Francis and the reception was held on the water at Melvin's. Kate's preparation was at her sister's house in Houma. Kate is a clothing designer so both dresses worn at the wedding were her design. Probably the largest house I've ever photographed in, no kidding. And the light inside was just amazing to shoot in.

Joe plays in the band, Sons of William (check them out on iTunes)and they sat in with the reception band,Mojeaux for a few songs. I'll name drop just one more time here since Marc Broussard sang a song for bride and groom! Truly a fun day to photograph! Very special thanks to Kate and Joe for allowing me to capture their wedding day!
